Since 1994, we’ve helped thousands of students to achieve outstanding results and join some of the world’s best universities. We are recognised as one of the best places in the UK for international students to live, learn and thrive.
A Levels are the ‘go to’ qualification if you want to gain a place at a top UK university. They are the traditional access route to university study, and by far the best option if you want to apply to universities such as Cambridge or Oxford.
As an A Level student, you will receive full board accommodation in one of our Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rated boarding houses.
All of our boarding houses offer breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week. We offer single and twin room options for students, together with communal social and study areas. All boarding house provide fast Wi-Fi included in the boarding fee.
Rooms are cleaned on a weekly basis with fresh linen and towels provided, and we offer on-site laundry. House parents live in with students, and all boarding houses are secure sites with controlled access, CCTV, secure bicycle storage and on—site security 24/7. Fun weekend and evening activities are organised by our boarding team.
We offer more than 50 extra-curricular clubs and activities each week. Taking part in clubs is a great way to meet new friends and expand your horizons. They also allow you to develop and demonstrate a broad range of interests outside of your studies, something that all top universities look for in applicants.=
Sports take place every week, both on and off campus. Sports and fitness classes regularly available include football, basketball, badminton, swimming, netball, yoga, running, dance and circuits. Competitive fixtures against other schools are organised throughout the year.
Studying in the UK is an exciting prospect, but might make you a little nervous too. It means leaving your family to start a new life in an unfamiliar country. As experts in teaching and supporting international students, we know that the first thing we have to build is a strong and supportive college community. To succeed in your studies you first need to feel welcome, comfortable and safe.
Our A Level students will typically study four subjects in their first year, you can then choose to continue with these four in year two, or drop down to three subjects. We offer a range of subjects, with particular strengths in Mathematics, Sciences, Business, Economics and Humanities. The combination of subjects you choose will influence the university courses you will be able to apply for.
Our college community is made up of eight houses, with each member of the school (Staff and students) becoming a member of a house. Abbey houses are all to do with pride, friendship, team spirit, and competition. The passion a student develops for their house is at the core of our outstanding pastoral care.
Your personal tutor will be an experienced member of our teaching staff, who will provide support throughout your studies. You’ll meet with them daily as part of your tutor group, and then weekly and termly for in-depth personal guidance and feedback sessions.
We run weekly ‘Abbey Inspires’ academic evening lectures and workshops, where students can learn more about and explore topics related to their subjects that aren’t covered by the traditional syllabus. Having this higher level knowledge provides you with a real advantage when it comes to making your university application.
At our Homerton Gardens campus you will find yourself in a truly inspiring environment, living and learning in the heart of Cambridge, one of the world’s most prestigious university cities.
We are in a privileged position to offer our students access to the university’s world-class labs and lectures. Cambridge is a quiet, safe, and prosperous city, it is also one of the most beautiful places in the UK. There are an enormous range of cultural, sporting, leisure and entertainment opportunities within the city and the surrounding countryside.
Central London is a 50 minute train ride away, and the nearest international airport is 30 minutes by car. European capitals such as Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam can be reached from the city centre.
